Knowledge is a differentiation process, because complexities are defined by differences. In science the way things are not is just as important as the way things are. The boundaries around any subject are determined by the way things are not. The way things are not determine differences.

Complexities are managed by science and produced by engineering. The science adds human knowledge; and the engineering puts that knowledge into production. It doesn't happen by accident. Accidental results produce dedifferentiation.

That means the probability of increasing differences through random effects is so low that multiple effects will always move toward dedifferentiation. How many times does it take to throw metal into a pile and get an automobile? Each time, the metal gets farther from an automobile rather than closer due to dedifferentiation of random effects.

The problem is that incompetent power mongers take over the social structures through domination to prevail, which is a dedifferentiation process. In other words, power mongers are total idiots. They assume being winners is the purpose in life, while it takes power mongering to be winners.

Reagan said, if you need to explain, you are already a loser. He assumed being a winner is the purpose in life and rationality is for fools. Rationality requires explanation of claims. Being a winner requires domination, which is the basis of all corruption.

How are science and engineering produced with winners dominating the social structures? The science and engineering are shoved out of existence and replaced by domination as a control process.

The recent form of so-called artificial intelligence shows how science and engineering work now days. The pretense is that generative artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence. Any idiot should have known from the beginning that the process is extractive and it dedifferentiates, which reduces knowledge. Scraping a digital source and comparing is quasi averaging, which is dedifferentiation. It's like taking marbled ice cream and stirring it. The result is some sort of tan.

The digital source material which is scraped is limited to literature on various subjects consisting of descriptions of something. Description means looking at differences. Averaging the results is erasing the differences. People need precise information. Mixing bits of the information together removes the preciseness and replaces it with generalizations, which is dedifferentiation.
