Totalitarians use power to declare their frauds to be truth and virtue. The fascism overwhelming society does the same thing.

Rationality is needed to produce real truth, because truth is defined by its links to surrounding realities. The definition of truth is the communicated representation of unified reality. Unified reality is all realities consistently related to the objective realities of the universe that define life and solutions to problems.

A statement as supposed truth has no meaning without the connections to surrounding realities to show what it means. So explanations are needed with truth. Rationality does that. Rationality is showing the relationships to the objective realities of the universe that define life and solutions to problems. That means truth is a product of rationality.

Power is not a close second for determining truth. Power is mongered for the purpose of prevailing with fraud. When incompetent corrupters find that they are losers in producing rationality, they decide to use a different method to be winners, which means dominating to prevail through force and violence. Opposition to rationality always requires that methodology, because people depend upon rationality to solve their problems.

Power mongers fight a war against rationality, because it exposes them as the corrupters that they are. That means they impose their frauds rather than explain them. And that is what totalitarianism is.

A lot of wannabe power mongers never quite get there on their own; but they align with the winners in their attempts to be part of the success. So they actually believe that the proclamations of incompetent power mongers imposing fraud onto society must be truth.

They miss the purpose and functionality of truth. Fraud does not server a constructive or functional purpose. It makes corrupters winners by destroying other persons and their realities through domination to prevail through force and violence.

Therefore, there is always an overwhelming requirement to produce rationality as explanation of claims particularly in the fascism that is overwhelming the social order. But of course, no explanations can be produced for fraud without exposing the fraud for what it is. Fraud must be imposed through quips, such as "carbon free" and "on par with coal."
