The reason why problems keep increasing is because incompetent power mongers don't have a clue what problem solving consists of. They try to apply the formula that made them successful in mongering power, which means using force and violence to dominate and subdue opponents; so destroying opponents should be all it takes.

Trump campaigned on destroying his enemies and putting together an assembly of sycophants who will carry out that purpose in contempt for laws and government designed to prevent it from happening.

If they are going to do something more than that, what qualifications do they have? Sycophants aren't qualified to clean a dog house.

If someone is going to find solutions to problems, what is the process going to consist of? Are the wizards going to solve problems in the dark in case we don't want our problems solved?

There are infinite reasons why wizards never solve problems in the dark. First and foremost, the persons who have problems absolutely need to be involved in the process of determining what the solutions are. Quadzillion examples show what a disaster results in power mongers deciding for someone else what the answer to their problems should be.

Secondly, the whole reason for operating in the dark is to prevent the corruptions and frauds from being visible. Solutions without corruptions and frauds being corrected always result in more problems being created. Openness and accountability are supposed to exist for that reason.

A lot of knowledge is required for solving any problems in a complex world. Incompetents assume they will just find someone who knows what they are doing. They never find the right persons, because sycophants are never competent. It takes a lot of knowledge to put together a competent group of persons to solve problems. And of course competent persons are not going to start a project for the purpose of mongering power for incompetent corrupters.

And then of course, there is the science and engineering; but it is so far removed from present social realities that no one is going to listen to one word of it, as shown by looking out the window to replace five hundred years of science.
