Liberalism didn't go wrong as an ism; it went wrong as a result. The label was hijacked by incompetent power mongers who took over the social structures and converted them into power structures. They used the liberal label to rationalize while doing the opposite.

Power mongers are conservatives by necessity. Even Trump started out as a liberal; but as he acquired power he found that he needed to be a conservative to promote his motives. That's because he has no ability to contrive fakery. It's over his head. The power mongers who took over the social structures handle realities well enough to use fakery to immunize themselves to truth.

The greens did something similar from a different starting point. They started out with the liberal motive of fixing environmental problems. Over time, incompetent power mongers took over the cause and found that mongering power required all of the corruptions that conservatives promote.

The only reason why there are no real liberals doing corrections is because they were overwhelmed in trying to do so. Real scientists tried to correct the errors of fake science and technology; but they were shoved out of the process and sometimes out of their jobs for trying to do so. How much less could nonscientists criticize such frauds.

Then the persons who knew nothing about complex technical subjects aligned upon consensus and assumed power was truth, knowledge and virtue.
