Conservatives use socialism as their purpose in existence. Their only excuse for their corruptness is to stop socialism. It was the same thing during McCarthy years in attacking communism. The word communism is out of date, so it was replaced by the word socialism. Here's why:

Conservatives do not evaluate. There are many different forms of socialism, but conservatives do not pick a particular form. They can't understand such abstract complexities. Without abstract evaluation, words point in a direction with no specific meaning being relevant.

Words are more generalized for persons who don't understand abstract realities. For analogy, if someone couldn't understand the difference between an automobile and a bicycle, they would use a single word for both. Words are supposed to have definable meanings which separate them out. Where abstract evaluation is absent, those differences don't exist. It's an extreme over-simplification.

So the question is, what is it that conservatives are opposed to. It's something in the area that they view as socialism, but what? Adding up the examples shows that what conservatives are opposed to is betterment of the lower classes. Conservatives view betterment of the lower classes as socialism. No philosophers or socialists have ever defined socialism that way, but broaden the perspective, and betterment of the lower classes is one of the main results of social programs. So conservatives round off the meaning and apply the word socialist to anything that would benefit the lower classes.

To get more precise, the motive must be considered. The motive is jealousy. The tendency is to assume jealousy looks upward; but that is envy. Jealousy looks downward. Jealous persons set themselves up for jealousy by spending their time lying to themselves about their worth. Any evidence to the contrary proves them wrong. It creates a fire in their minds. To put out the fire of jealousy, they try to destroy the persons who create the impressions. Jealousy is about the most acted upon manifestation of corruption, because jealous persons are trying to put out a fire in their minds.

Any sign of betterment in persons below them starts the fire in the minds of jealous persons. They have themselves convinced of their superiority and cannot tolerate evidence that indicates otherwise. But any sign of life in lower persons shows the evidence of jealous persons being wrong. In other words, jealous persons cannot stand to see any sign of life in persons below them. And abracadabra, you have conservatives fighting a war against the lower classes due to their jealousy.
