The Social Cost Of Magnesium
December 16, 2022 The cost to consumers and society of the corrosive damage and expense due to magnesium has been steadily increasing since 1904, when the newly emerging auto industry ramped up production of ferrous metals. The effects of magnesium now include the countless lives of auto owners and overwhelming expenses of infrastructure to governments. The effects of magnesium on auto crashes cannot be denied in the whopping increase in car wrecks since 1904. How often did a horse hit a horse before the magnesium plague? How much magnesium is there in the wood and leather of horse and buggy days? Yet deniers continue to obstruct the process of getting magnesium out of modern industries. It will take 20 to 30 years to get to the required goals of magnesium free manufacturing. Without more drastic measures the economy will be bankrupt before the magnesium-free goals are reached. There is already debt on top of debt across the world. Where the debt was in the billions of dollars in 1904, it is in the tens of trillions of dollars now. Who can deny the magnitude of the problem? Why are the deniers allowed to obstruct progress year after year, while industry and economies are destroyed by the self-evident results of magnesium in metals?
