The concept of confederacy is another perspective on the increasing polarization in politics. The basis of the conflict never changes. So explaining in terms of confederacy provides an example of the abstract realities.

What the confederates were saying is that they are a group of independent states which join together for common purposes but not by the prescribed laws that a federal government would create.

The primary focus of the confederates was exactly the primary focus of conservatives now days, which is to get laws off their backs. Of course, they can't produce enough laws for their opponents, but they can't understand that contradiction. They want to take over the lives of food stamp recipients to make Eagle Scouts out of them, while they don't want anyone telling themselves what to do.

There is an underlying principle to that motive. What corrupters don't want imposed upon themselves is what they impose upon others. Most basically, corrupters are in such a tiny bubble that they know of nothing outside that bubble. So whatever they do must be what everyone else does.

In addition to that is a closely related mechanism of reflecting everything back at opponents. It's called projection in psychology. It means to accuse other of what themselves are guilty of as a form of justification.

A more recognizable slogan for corrupters is, the best defense is a good offense. It means to defend oneself from an accusation by accusing opponents of being the cause.

Corrupters create fights for that reason. In the fight they can reverse cause-and-effect relationships. They pretend that all they are doing is protecting themselves from their opponents. And of course, protecting themselves requires an overwhelming influence, which is why the opponent loses and the perpetrator wins. Corrupters never lose a fight at that standard.

An element of everything corrupters do is arbitrariness, which means disconnected from reality and no consistent standard. Contradictions replace rationality. Corrupters want multiple standards and realities which can be formed around purposes without external standards and realities getting in the way. Their inconsistencies have such short intervals that they create contradictions within sentences.

Applying those principles to the meaning of confederacy shows that what the confederates were trying to achieve is to get the federal government off their backs so they could ride on the backs of the slaves.

In other words, what corrupters are trying to do is be winners at corruption, not improve the standards of corruption.
