What Bigotry Is

November 12, 2020

Bigotry is the assumption that power is virtue and powerlessness is corruption. In addition to being virtue, power becomes the de facto source of all that is right including truth and knowledge, in the assumptions of bigots.

Reagan was the most visible bigot of modern times. Mongering power and using it to destroy vulnerable persons was the essence of his eight years in government.

The pretense of stopping communism in Nicaragua had the only result of murdering rice farmers and low class persons with no other consequence than the brutality. Reagan's defying Congress' attempt to end the result with the Boland Amendment was shameless.

Reagan dealt with farmers in the U.S. no differently than his brutality in Nicaragua. He bankrupted thirty percent of the U.S. farmers by dumping government-stored grain onto the market with no attempt to compensate for the outcome.

Some of the Reaganites were saying there would be an improvement in agriculture, implicitly meaning the family farmers would be driven out and replaced with corporations. But it was the corporations that went bankrupt first, because they cannot compete with owner-operated businesses in any area.

Reagan's attack upon the lower classes was focussed upon so-called welfare queens which didn't exist. The claim of welfare queens was the dog whistle attack upon the lower classes that shaped the next twenty years of conservative oppression of the lower classes.

Bigots assume they have superior knowledge. There is no source or description of the superior knowledge. The assumption results from a psychologically conditioned reaction that goes with power.

Bigots operate by feel rather than analysis. Power makes all of their corruptions feel good. Feel-good becomes the test of rightness.

For corruption to replace virtue, the test of right-from-wrong must shift from constructivity to being winners. Power mongering creates winners through destructivity instead of constructivity.

The purpose of mongering power is to defy. To defy persons is to also defy realities. Where realities show destructivity, power feels like constructivity.

So bigots force people to promote destructivity as if it were constructivity while changing the standards to winning rather than accomplishing real results.
