Fakes do an analysis where there are insurmountable problems which they are heroically trying to solve by sacrificing some things to promote others. They need a state of existence devoid of the complexity and rationality which they cannot handle.

Agriculture is the primary focus of fixers assuming that it has reached its limits while populations keep increasing. GMOs and sewage sludge are supposedly improving output by some percent.

The fact is, agriculture has unlimited potential. It could easily feed 50 billion people. The wanton waste in agriculture evolved out of power mongering motives in attempting to produce industrial level power where incompetence could prevail. It took the form of corn and soybeans in the U.S. Fatty beef is the primary rationale which is now days augmented by burning ethanol and bio-diesel as fuel.

That path is totally dependent upon producing most other types of food in California. The quality of the soil in California couldn't be worse, being mostly sand devoid of nutrients. Supposedly, sewage sludge improves such soil, while it adds every chemical synthesized by humans and heavy metals to the food.

California agriculture could be replaced with a few back yards which have quality clay in the other 49 states. There are acres and acres of under-used soil in the northern planes, because agriculture prices are too low to promote their development. The tiniest fraction could produce the vegetables that California produces.

There are no better conditions for producing vegetables than hard clay with cold winters. The quality in incomparable. South Dakota claims to produce the world's sweetest melons, and no one else knows they exist. They are like sugar cubes loaded with flavor. Tomatoes and carrots are similarly on a totally different planet for quality and flavor.

Centuries ago, California sand was attractive, because horses could pull machinery through sand easier than through clay. That problem no longer exists, but the power structure was developed in California, and incompetent power mongers need to attach to a power structure.

Water is also more available on the plains. The northern Missouri River and its dams provide unlimited irrigation potential, but the water is being squandered for barging on the Mississippi. Barging is an Eighteenth Century technology which should not exist. The Missouri River is now going to be polluted with oil due to the pipeline which goes under it in two places.

An unlimited amount of meat could be produced by feeding beef on alfalfa instead of corn and soybeans. Alfalfa grows anyplace grass grows, and it fixes its own nitrogen from the air. It would take one tenth as many acres to feed beef alfalfa as corn and soybeans, while a hundred times as many acres are available for growing alfalfa. But such beef would be much lower in fat. That's a good thing for health, but it's not the elitism that separates the worthies from the unworthies on the basis of marbled steaks.

It's because incompetent power mongers took over everything that there is wanton waste instead of solutions, not because of material limitations.
